Ben Dibling joined UCLA’s OIP-ISR in 2011. In his role as Assistant Director of Licensing, Ben works closely with faculty, staff and students to help identify aspects of their research with commercial potential. His responsibilities include evaluating new inventions, securing intellectual property protection where appropriate, and licensing the university’s rights to both established companies and startups. Ben also oversees OIP&ISR’s marketing group. Prior to UCLA, Ben worked for seven years at UChicagoTech, the technology transfer arm of the University of Chicago, where he focused on patenting and licensing biomedical inventions. He also has prior industry experience developing novel anti-cancer agents at AstraZeneca. Ben earned a Ph.D. in Clinical Medicine from the University of Leeds and a B.Med.Sci. (Molecular and Cellular Biology) from the University of Birmingham. Ben is registered to practice before the U.S. Patents and Trademarks Office.
